There are more people using pool heat pumps to heat their pools so that they can enjoy swimming time whenever they want without restriction by weathers, but how good the pool heat pumps can do the heating work, here is standard wen can see the performance, and the performance of a heat pump is expressed in the Coefficient of Performance, COP for short. Regardless of the type of heat pump, air source pool heat pump or ground source heat pump, it is expressed in COP. But what exactly is the COP?
A common mistake is to compare a heat pump on the basis of one COP number. But one high COP value does not necessarily mean that the pool heat pump is economical. To compare apples to apples, the integrated value and the seasonal COP or the average COP of the year is important. It is also important to know what a pool heat pump does at partial capacity.
The pool heat pump extracts heat from water or other resources and we distinguish the different pool heat pump systems based on where they extract heat from, anything in which heat is present can be used as a source. for example, of ground heat, water, outside air, ventilation air or residual heat of the industry. The heat is upgraded and released to water for the use of space heating or hot tap water. Electricity is needed to start and keep the process going.
The COP is the ratio between the amount of heat released against the electricity consumption (power consumption) of the pool heat pump. it is easier to explain with an example.
Example: 1 unit of the power consumed by a pool heat pump, 5 units of energy come from the pool heat pumps then the COP in this example is 5.
The higher the COP, the less electricity is consumed and the more economical the pool heat pump works. The payback period of a pool heat pump with a high COP is shorter and fewer other components (such as solar panels and covers)are needed to compensate for its consumption. So COP is quite an important number.
The pool heat pump efficiency In the example above, the COP is 5. Only one part of electricity is needed for 5 parts of heat. This makes the efficiency of the pool heat pump 500% and is unprecedented in heating. For comparison, the efficiencies of an air source pool heat pump is much better than other types of pool heat pumps like electric heating pool heat pump or a gas boiler etc.
Although the performance can be vary based on different models of pool heat pumps, we know that COP is important, choose a high-end and full inverter INVERPAC model from PoolClub can help you heat your pool faster and quieter, also air sourced pool heat pump is the most cost-saving and eco-friendly pool heating method people would choose for the pools.
