The underfloor heating system is increasingly the ideal solution to transform your home into a small oasis of warmth and hospitality .
It is a system that offers numerous advantages , including the reduction of energy costs , a high level of thermal well -being and which allows different solutions for its power supply .
And speaking of power solutions, that's exactly what we're going to see in this article today.
There are two main types of underfloor heating systems:
electric underfloor heating
Hydronic underfloor heating
The first , as the name implies, works thanks to the heat produced by electricity . This type of underfloor system is less expensive than the second, but often involves higher operating costs.
The second , the hydronic one , transmits heat to the environment thanks to the pipes inside which the hot water flows .
The latter is also the only type of underfloor heating that we marry here in Lovama, and for which we have developed our patented Deltasolar system .
As for the power supply of the two systems , they are different , since they have two different ways of supplying energy.
Electric underfloor heating systems connect to the home's electricity supply .
Water underfloor heating systems, on the other hand, have a wider range of power supplies and configurations : as with condensing boiler, heat pump or photovoltaic with heat pump.
The heat pump is a sustainable generator of thermal energy that produces heat by exploiting, for the most part, the natural sources already present in the environment.
In fact, it is able to produce 100% of the thermal energy you need by exploiting:
for 75% energy supplied by natural elements (water, air or earth)
for 25% electricity supply
If the underfloor heating system is combined with the heat pump, the thermal energy it produces is “transferred” to the water of the radiant floor, which will heat your rooms in a pleasant and uniform way .
There are different types of heat pumps that can be combined with underfloor heating, depending on the most available natural resources in your vicinity.
The most used are those of the "air-water" type (the water in the pipes is heated by absorbing thermal energy from the outside air) but there are also "water-water" and "geothermal" heat pumps .
Furthermore, the use of the heat pump to power the radiant floor allows the system to be exploited not only to heat , but also to cool the environment.
In practice, with a single system you are guaranteed well-being both in winter and in summer , with any outside temperature.
This is also one of the main reasons why people are choosing heat pumps more and more often .
As far as their efficiency is concerned, the only operating limit of heat pumps is that too cold outside temperatures can reduce their efficiency (but they also work well down to -20 ° C outside).
We can therefore say that the system works effectively even if the outside temperatures are very low.
The condensing boiler represents one of the most efficient and reliable alternatives to traditional gas boilers .
Unlike the traditional boiler (which uses only a part of the latent heat generated by the gas), the condensing boiler is able to recover and exploit all the heat generated during combustion .
It is in fact able to convert the heat of exhaust fumes and water vapor into further energy; energy which, on the other hand, is lost with traditional boilers.
It too can be used to power your hydronic underfloor heating system, as it is able to provide a constant energy yield , which avoids waste and heat loss.
This same feature also favors great environmental sustainability, guaranteeing a 75% reduction in harmful emissions compared to traditional boilers.
If you want a radiant system capable of both cooling and heating , however, the condensing boiler is not the right choice for you.
In fact, unlike the heat pump system, the radiant floor with condensing boiler only allows you to heat the rooms .
This means that you will need another system if you want to cool rooms during the hot summer months.
In any case, powering the radiant floor with a condensing boiler still allows you to enjoy high thermal well -being and to reduce your consumption by up to 35% compared to a traditional boiler.
